Earlier this year, I shot a series of portraits for a web series produced for MTV India called Unmasked. The show is essentially a series of webisodes where four unnamed individuals speak openly about subjects that are otherwise considered difficult to debate publicly.

After a successful outing shooting my first ever magazine cover, Digital Studio hired me for a second time to shoot their cover the very next month. This time it was the COO of Star India (yeah, the TV house) and a couple more of their senior executives. Here are the tearsheets from the story.

This is my friend Ayush. Ayush and I worked at the same company for over a year and a quarter. Ayush and I both left that company - a week apart - to pursue our passions.

Ayush is an artist. An amazing artist. He's trying to bring his art to larger audiences by putting it on all kinds of products under the brand name Kingdom of Calm. This post is full of links because I'm just a big, big fan of his work. Heck, I'm even going to shoot all his products and even a promotional campaign to do my bit to get him started off.

This post, however, is more about the man himself. It's fascinating to me how his brain works. His life, as I see it, is an incomprehensible paradox of chaos and calm. So is his art. In an effort to capture the true personality of the guy and his world, I decided to shoot him in his natural environment, doing what he does. I don't think I'll ever understand how someone can write science fiction to accompany his art.

Within the first month of my freelancing career, I got an opportunity to shoot a magazine cover. Digital Studio is a b2b magazine for the film and broadcasting industry published by the ITP Publishing Group. Here's a shot of the cover.

Last month, I did a management portrait shoot at my former workplace BigRock.com, part of the Directi group. Fun, simple little shoot with a single light. The entire organization is incredibly relaxed and casual dressing is not just for Fridays, which sort of reflects in these shots. These portraits have were for the Management Team page on BigRock's website.

Shooting The Other People once again, first time at a venue other than the Blue Frog. Extremely harsh lights that looked quite ridiculous at the venue turned out to be great for my lens. This is definitely one of my favourite shoots for this lovely band. Great guys.

A couple of weeks ago my closest friend got married to his college sweetheart. Here's a sneak-peek of what I shot during the wedding. This is one of my favourite pictures from the entire weekend. I love it so much, I had it printed on a 12"x18" canvas and gifted it to the couple (without the watermark, of course)  :)

As always, I had my camera with me and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to practice some concert shots. Before I knew it, I was officially shooting my first live concert. 500 clicks later, I am pleased as a peach. The lead vocalist, Zarir, was definitely the star of the show (though my female friends preferred the guitarist Sam). These two were the most visible and also accessible to my lens, which is why you will see a lot of them in this set.

All pictures were taken with my Nikon D3000 and 50mm f/1.4G prime lens. God I love that lens.

Please, please leave your feedback on my first attempt at shooting a concert. I need it!

Maneesh is a jack of many trades. He's the kind of guy that ends up becoming a master of all. But Maneesh hates being predictable. Maneesh loves surprising people around him. Which means that he probably won't end up becoming a master of any.
